Privacy Policy
Effective date: 25/10/2026
Last updated: 25/10/2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Apricot Electronics Limited collects, uses, shares and protects personal data in connection with the Soothing Sounds mobile application and the dedicated website at www.soothingsoundsapp.com. It applies to Soothing Sounds only.
1. Who we are
Soothing Sounds is owned and operated by Apricot Electronics Limited, a private limited company registered in England and Wales. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controller for personal data that we collect and determine how to use in connection with the App and Website.
Company name: Apricot Electronics Limited
Company number: 15078038
Registered office: Dalton House, 9 Dalton Square, Lancaster, Lancashire, LA1 1WD, United Kingdom
Privacy contact: privacy@apricot-electronics.com
General and app support: info@apricot-electronics.com
In this Privacy Policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Apricot Electronics Limited. “You” means a visitor to the Website or a user of the App.
2. Scope and privacy summary
This Privacy Policy applies only to the Soothing Sounds mobile application on iOS and Android (the “App”) and the Soothing Sounds informational website at www.soothingsoundsapp.com (the “Website”). It does not apply to other Apricot Electronics Limited websites, apps, engineering services or future products unless those services expressly adopt this policy.
We aim to limit the personal data handled in connection with Soothing Sounds. In particular:
• the App does not require a Soothing Sounds account and does not ask you to enter your name, email address, meditation history, health information or location;
• the App may store simple sound, timer, volume and other preferences locally on your device;
• the free App displays advertising served through Google AdMob, which can process device, network and advertising-related information;
• optional one-time premium purchases may involve Apple, Google and RevenueCat purchase and entitlement records;
• the Website is informational: it does not display adverts, accept payments, offer accounts or have a contact form;
• the Website uses Hostinger’s built-in traffic reporting to understand broad visitor numbers and website requests, not advertising or behavioural profiling;
• if you email us, we will process the contact details and message you choose to send; and
• we do not directly sell personal information. Advertising technologies used in the free App may nevertheless involve disclosures that some privacy laws define as “sharing” or “targeted advertising”.
Different rules and rights may apply depending on where you live. We explain the most relevant ones below.
3. Information you provide directly
Soothing Sounds does not require you to provide us with a name, email address or other registration details to access the App or Website. The finished Website will not include a contact form.
You may choose to send us an email about support, a purchase, a suggestion, a privacy request or other enquiry. We then receive the information included in the email, which may include your name, email address, message, attachments and any technical details you choose to share (for example, a device model or app version).
Please avoid sending medical records or sensitive personal information unless necessary for your enquiry. If you voluntarily send such information, we will use it only as reasonably needed to deal with the enquiry and in accordance with applicable law.
4. Information collected when you visit the Website
The Website exists mainly to explain Soothing Sounds and direct visitors to the App. It has no AdMob advertising, no account-registration function, no contact form and no direct checkout.
We use Hostinger for Website hosting. When a page or resource is requested, Hostinger and related hosting or content-delivery systems may process and record technical information to deliver the Website, maintain security and troubleshoot errors. Access and error logs may include an IP address (or, with some network configurations, an intermediary server address), the date and time, requested page or resource, request or response information, browser and device details, and approximate country derived from network information.
We use Hostinger’s built-in website traffic reporting to review general statistics, such as total requests, unique IP addresses, pages or resources accessed, and available country or device information. This reporting is derived from hosting or network traffic data and does not itself require a separate analytics cookie or third-party visitor-tracking script. Counts of unique IP addresses are not necessarily counts of individual people.
We use this information to understand overall Website activity, monitor performance and investigate security or technical problems. We do not use the Website to build advertising profiles, follow identifiable visitors across other websites or connect Website visits to their use of the Soothing Sounds App. We do not currently install Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or other separate advertising or behavioural analytics integrations on the Website.
We use the SureCookie WordPress plugin to manage and remember cookie preferences. SureCookie uses cookies or similar identifiers in a visitor’s browser to remember choices and associate a consent action with the relevant session. If consent logging is enabled, it may also record the time of a decision, whether optional categories were accepted or declined, a session identifier, a partially masked IP address and the country inferred from the IP address in the Website’s WordPress database.
We use these records to honour visitors’ choices and, where applicable, keep evidence of our compliance with privacy requirements. SureCookie may process an IP address through its supporting services to determine country-level location for consent settings. Details of cookies, their durations and how to revisit your choices are provided in our Website Cookie Policy.
5. Information processed when you use the App
Soothing Sounds helps users create audio sessions using sounds, music, timers and other playback controls. It does not currently provide user accounts and does not ask you to submit your name, email address, meditation history, medical information, contacts, photos, microphone recordings, calendar information or precise location.
The App may save preferences on your device, such as volume settings, sound selections, fade durations, timers and other configuration settings. These preferences are used to make the App work as expected. We do not currently collect or maintain a personal meditation-history database on our own servers.
Depending on your device and operating-system settings, locally saved data may be included in a device backup administered by Apple, Google or another provider. We do not control those providers’ backup services.
The App and services integrated into it may process technical information such as device type, operating system and app version, IP address, diagnostic or performance information, and limited app interactions, where necessary for advertising, security, purchase verification or the operation of relevant services. Some of this data is collected directly by third-party software development kits (SDKs) rather than entered by you.
6. Advertising in the free App (Google AdMob)
The free version of Soothing Sounds shows advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob and its advertising partners may collect or process information such as:
• IP address and approximate location inferred from IP address;
• device type, operating-system information and app details;
• advertising identifiers or other device identifiers when available and permitted;
• information about interactions with advertisements and related app activity;
• diagnostic and performance information; and
• information used for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, security and, where permitted, personalisation.
Ads may be personalised, non-personalised or subject to other restrictions depending on your location, available permissions, consent choices and provider settings. Where required, we will provide notices and obtain the necessary consent or platform permissions before using personal data or device identifiers for personalised advertising and related tracking.
For example, some iOS tracking activities require permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework. Android and iOS also provide device-level controls for advertising identifiers or tracking. Where a legally required in-app consent or privacy-choice mechanism applies, it must be implemented in the App; device settings alone do not necessarily meet every legal requirement.
Buying the premium upgrade removes AdMob advertisements shown in the App. This does not prevent the app store, purchase-management provider, or other essential technical services from processing information needed for their respective functions. The Website does not run AdMob advertising.
7. In-app purchases and premium entitlements
Soothing Sounds may offer an optional one-time lifetime premium upgrade through the Apple App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android. Transactions are processed by the applicable app store. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
We may use RevenueCat to help validate transactions, restore purchases and determine whether premium features should be unlocked. Apple, Google and RevenueCat may process purchase and related technical information such as:
• purchase status, purchase history and product identifiers;
• entitlement status and relevant transaction or receipt information;
• store purchase tokens or receipt data;
• anonymous App User IDs or other identifiers used for entitlement management; and
• app version, device type, operating system and related diagnostic or technical information.
These identifiers are not the same as a Soothing Sounds user account. A third-party provider may retain or process transaction records in accordance with its own legal obligations, contract and privacy notice. Payment, refund and account details held by Apple or Google are subject to their respective practices.
8. External links and device behaviour
The App and Website may include links to our support email, app-store listings, privacy information, ratings or other third-party destinations. Opening such a link may launch a browser, email client, app store or another service, which may process data under its own policies.
App functions such as keeping the screen awake or playing audio while the screen is off or the App is in the background rely on device and operating-system features. Those functions do not themselves require you to provide us with personal details.
9. Cookies, SDKs and similar technologies
The Website and App can use different technologies, and they should not be treated as if they have identical privacy practices.
• Website: Hostinger’s built-in visitor reporting uses hosting or network traffic information and does not itself require a separate analytics cookie. SureCookie uses browser cookies or identifiers to manage consent choices and, where enabled, records consent actions. The Website does not use Google AdMob or advertising/remarketing cookies.
• App: local storage saves app preferences, Google AdMob uses advertising SDK technology, and app-store and purchase-management services use technical identifiers or transaction tokens as required for their functions.
We will seek consent before enabling any non-essential cookies or similar technologies where required by law. Where a qualifying statistical-purpose exception applies to any future device-storage analytics, we will provide the required information and simple, free means to object. Hostinger’s server-side traffic reporting and SureCookie’s consent management should not be confused with advertising tracking in the App.
You can manage browser cookies through your browser settings and revisit available Website choices through the SureCookie Cookie Preferences control. Where applicable, we will also make consent withdrawal or objection straightforward. In the App, advertising and tracking choices may be available through an in-app privacy control or the settings of your iOS or Android device. Refusing optional tracking does not necessarily prevent contextual advertisements in the free App.
10. Why we use personal data and our lawful bases
Where the UK GDPR or equivalent law applies, the lawful basis depends on the purpose and circumstances. Our main purposes and expected lawful bases are:
• Providing and operating the App, restoring purchases and delivering premium features: performance of a contract where processing is necessary to supply what you requested, or legitimate interests for related essential technical operations.
• Responding to support emails, enquiries and privacy requests: our legitimate interests in providing support and keeping appropriate correspondence records, or a legal obligation where one applies.
• Maintaining Website and App security, detecting technical faults and preventing misuse or fraud: our legitimate interests in protecting users, systems and business operations, or a legal obligation where relevant.
• Measuring basic Website traffic through Hostinger reporting: our legitimate interests in understanding general traffic and improving Website operations, subject to applicable data protection requirements; separate consent or device-storage rules will be considered if we introduce additional analytics technologies.
• Recording and honouring Website cookie preferences and, where enabled, retaining consent records: compliance with applicable privacy or electronic-communications obligations, and our legitimate interests in documenting and managing visitors’ choices where appropriate.
• Serving App advertising and using advertising identifiers for personalised advertising or related tracking: consent where required; other permitted processing may rely on another lawful basis depending on purpose, region and provider role.
• Meeting tax, accounting, consumer protection, data protection and other legal duties: compliance with a legal obligation.
• Establishing, exercising or defending legal claims and maintaining necessary business records: legitimate interests or another applicable legal basis.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, those interests are limited to the purposes described above and are balanced against your rights and freedoms. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
You generally do not need to provide personal data directly to us to use the App or view the Website. However, certain technical data may be needed for connectivity or security, and app-store transaction information is necessary to validate a premium purchase.
11. Third-party service providers
The following third parties may be involved in delivering Soothing Sounds:
• Google AdMob and relevant advertising partners, for advertisements in the free App;
• Apple App Store and Apple purchase services, for iOS distribution, payments and purchases;
• Google Play and Google Play Billing, for Android distribution, payments and purchases;
• RevenueCat, where enabled for purchase validation, restoration and premium entitlements;
• Hostinger, for Website hosting, security, access logs and built-in visitor reporting;
• SureCookie and its supporting services, for scanning cookies, managing visitor preferences and (where enabled) recording consent decisions and determining region-based settings; and
• email, device, operating-system and technical service providers where necessary for support, external links, delivery or security.
Some providers act on our instructions, while others independently determine certain processing purposes. Their terms and privacy notices may also apply. Information about Hostinger’s hosting analytics and SureCookie’s cookie and consent functions is given above and in our Website Cookie Policy. For App-related services, consult the published notices of Google, Apple and RevenueCat.
We do not knowingly integrate third-party services into the Website for the purpose of serving advertising.
12. When we share personal data
We may disclose relevant information to service providers for the limited purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including app advertising, app-store purchases, hosting, security and email support. We may also disclose information:
• when required by applicable law, regulation, court order or lawful request;
• when reasonably necessary to protect our legal rights, prevent fraud or respond to security incidents;
• in connection with a genuine business sale, merger, restructuring or transfer of the Soothing Sounds business, subject to applicable data protection rules; or
• with your consent or at your direction.
We do not sell personal information directly for money. However, some disclosures made through advertising services in the free App may be treated as “sharing”, “targeted advertising” or similar practices under certain privacy laws. The relevant opt-out rights and choices are explained below. These advertising disclosures do not describe the Website, which has no advertising.
13. International transfers
Apricot Electronics Limited is based in the United Kingdom. Some service providers may process information in countries outside the UK, European Economic Area or your country of residence, including the United States.
Where we are responsible for a transfer and law requires safeguards, we will use an applicable adequacy decision or legally recognised transfer mechanism, such as standard contractual clauses and any relevant UK addendum or international data transfer agreement, together with other necessary protections.
You can contact privacy@apricot-electronics.com to request further information about relevant safeguards. Data protection laws in other countries may differ from those where you live.
14. How long we keep personal data
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the stated purpose, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. The following are our intended retention periods or criteria:
• Support emails and related correspondence: generally up to 24 months from our last communication, unless needed longer for a dispute, legal obligation, security issue or continuing support case.
• Purchase and premium entitlement records: for as long as reasonably needed to validate or restore paid access, manage refunds or chargebacks, prevent fraud and comply with applicable record-keeping obligations.
• App preferences: stored locally on your device until changed, removed by clearing app data or deleted when the App is uninstalled, subject to any device backup arrangements.
• Website hosting, access and security logs: kept under Hostinger’s applicable service and retention settings, for no longer than reasonably needed for Website operation, investigation of errors and security purposes.
• Hostinger visitor reports: used and retained as needed to understand aggregate Website activity and maintain the Website. Underlying technical records are subject to the hosting provider’s relevant retention settings; statistics that no longer identify a person may be kept for longer.
• SureCookie browser preferences and consent records: consent-related cookies remain on the visitor’s device for the durations listed in our Cookie Policy or until removed. If consent logging is enabled, records in the Website’s WordPress database are subject to the log-retention and cleanup period configured in SureCookie, unless a longer period is lawfully necessary for compliance or a dispute.
• AdMob and other third-party SDK data: retained by relevant providers in accordance with their applicable terms, privacy notices, legal obligations and configuration.
• Legal, tax, accounting and business records: for applicable statutory periods. Truly anonymous aggregate statistics may be kept for longer because they no longer identify a person.
You may request deletion of personal data where the law gives you that right. We may need to retain certain records where lawful grounds require or permit us to do so.
15. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data we control from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure. We aim to limit collection and access to what is reasonably needed for Soothing Sounds.
No online service, mobile device, transmission method or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please contact us if you become aware of a privacy or security concern.
16. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and the processing involved, you may have rights to access personal data, correct inaccuracies, request erasure, restrict or object to processing, obtain portable copies of certain information, withdraw consent and complain to a data protection authority.
You can contact privacy@apricot-electronics.com to exercise your rights. We may request information necessary to verify your identity or locate the relevant data. Some advertising or transaction information is controlled directly by Google, Apple or another provider; where appropriate, you may also need to use their privacy controls or contact them.
Your right to object
Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may have the right to object to that processing on grounds relating to your particular situation. You have a separate, unconditional right to object to processing for direct marketing where that right applies. Contact us using the privacy email above; you can also use any relevant Website or in-app privacy control.
17. United Kingdom and European Economic Area
If you are in the UK or EEA, the UK GDPR, EU GDPR and related privacy or electronic-communications rules may give you specific rights and protections, including rights explained in section 16.
For UK complaints, you may contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at www.ico.org.uk. If you are in the EEA, you may also complain to your local data protection supervisory authority. We would appreciate an opportunity to address your concern first, but contacting us is not a prerequisite to filing a complaint.
When advertising or analytics technologies require consent, they should not be enabled for the relevant purpose until that consent has been obtained. Consent choices must also be capable of being changed or withdrawn in accordance with applicable requirements.
18. California and other United States privacy rights
Residents of California and certain other US states may have additional rights under laws applicable to them, such as the right to know or access information, request correction or deletion, obtain a copy of personal information, or opt out of relevant sale, sharing, targeted advertising or profiling.
We do not directly sell personal information for money. Because the free App uses Google AdMob, certain advertising-related disclosures may be classified as “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under some US state laws even where no money is exchanged for personal information. You may contact privacy@apricot-electronics.com to submit a rights request or ask how applicable advertising choices can be exercised.
We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights. The particular rights available to you, and any verification or appeal procedure, depend on the law that applies to your request.
19. Children
The App and Website are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request or collect personal information directly from children under 13 through a Soothing Sounds account or registration form, because neither exists.
Where a higher age threshold or additional parental-consent requirement applies, we intend to comply with the applicable rule. Soothing Sounds may be played by an adult in an environment where children are present, but the App is intended to be selected and controlled by a responsible adult.
If you believe a child has sent us personal data or that we have collected a child’s information inappropriately, contact privacy@apricot-electronics.com. We will review the request and take appropriate steps. Advertising technologies may require separate child-protection configuration in accordance with app-store, advertising-platform and legal rules.
20. Marketing communications
The Soothing Sounds Website is not intended to operate an email newsletter, mailing-list registration or marketing contact form. We do not use the Website to collect email addresses for promotional campaigns.
If you contact us for support or feedback, we may reply to your message and send necessary follow-up information. We will not treat a support enquiry as permission to send unrelated marketing. If we introduce optional marketing communications in the future, we will first provide the relevant information and obtain consent or offer opt-out rights as required by law.
21. Links to other websites and services
The App and Website may link to external sites, app-store listings, email services or other platforms. Those third parties may collect or use personal information according to their own privacy policies. We encourage you to read their policies before providing personal data.
22. Automated decisions and profiling
We do not use personal information collected directly through a Soothing Sounds account, because no such account exists, and we do not operate a system that makes solely automated decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects.
AdMob or its partners may use automated methods to select or measure advertisements within the free App in accordance with applicable choices and law. Such advertising processes should not be confused with a medical assessment, meditation-history record or personalised clinical recommendation by Soothing Sounds.
23. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Soothing Sounds, the Website, our providers or applicable law change. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top and publish the revised policy on www.soothingsoundsapp.com.
If we make a material change that requires additional notice or consent, we will provide it as required by law. Please review this policy periodically. This document will not automatically be extended to other Apricot Electronics Limited apps or services.
